Patient handling issues and intervention with Regulators
Nursing and residential care home
Home had received a visit from the local HSE Inspector who had raised issues with resident handling policy and procedures, training and record keeping. A re-inspection was planned and enforcement had been discussed.
What we did
Carried out a site visit and review of the policy and procedure and measured what was in place against the current guidance on resident handling. Reviewed training provision and records and identified potential gaps. Acted as liaison between the inspector and the care home manager to help negotiate time frames and manage expectations. Policy and procedures were rewritten and updated and information provided for both home manager and home owners. Guidance was provided on suitable training courses.
